Truth be told, our digital life is never secured. But hey, life has to go on and so, if you are really, really serious about protecting your digital life, perhaps you will want to be using the Purism Librem 14 Laptop.
From the security-first hardware and software maker, Librem 14 is the successor to the Librem 13 we saw several years ago. It retains popular security features like hardware kill switches to disable the webcam/microphone and WiFi and support Purism’s high-security boot firmware, PureBoot, with updated technologies.
The most obvious feature from the get-go is the new 14-inch FHD IPS matte display surrounded by decidedly narrower bezel. While it may be a 14-inch, the new Librem laptop is actually has the same footprint as the Librem 13.
Other key notables include 10th-generation Intel Core i7-10710U processor (4.7 GHz/6 cores/12 threads), up to 64 GB DDR4 memory, Gigabit Ethernet card with built-in RJ45 port, memory card reader, support for up to 2 external monitors via HDMI and USB-C, USB-C Power Delivery (PD) in addition to the standard barrel connector, full-size backlit keyboard and a gorgeous high-quality aluminum chassis.
Librem 14 comes preloaded with PureOS, Purism’s OS endorsed by the Free Software Foundation. Purism is running a pre-order campaign now where “early bird” will be able to secure a unit at a base price of US$1,199.
Shipping is expected to commence “early Q4 2020.”
