Not sure the relation between mobile gaming, or mobile phone in general, with Bruce Lee. TBH, we don’t even know the association between a modern timepiece and the martial art legend, but hey, it’s a homage and a homage needs no specific reasons. Speaking homage to Lee, here’s a handset that celebrates the kung fu legend.
Folks, this is the Redmi K40 Bruce Lee Edition. So, yeah. In addition to the 4 devices in the new K40 lineup, there is actually another K40 model. Technically, it is still four K40 devices at this point since the Redmi K40 Bruce Lee Special Edition is based on the so-called “gaming phone”, the Gaming Enhanced Edition.
It is presented in a color scheme that pays tribute to the Chinese-American actor/martial artist and founder of Jeet Kune Do. The phone’s yellow back cover with a black stripe running down vertically around the back reminiscent of the yellow jumpsuit Lee wore in his last movie, The Game of Death (1978, Golden Harvest).
The yellow jumpsuit is just about as iconic as the man himself. You could say it is synonymous with Lee. For those who don’t know, the suit was designed by Lee himself for the movie which, he sadly, did not complete due to his untimely demise.
The handset is not the only thing that has gotten the yellow jumpsuit treatment; the entire package, including the inside and outside of the box, is treated to the yellow and black color scheme. The package also comes with a matching phone case, a yellow power brick and yellow cable (very snazzy!), and inner document box with the image of Bruce Lee, his signature (which can also be found on the box) and a famous quote.
Not sure if the UI is Bruce Lee-theme or not. It should have at least one or some Lee wallpaper from what we gathered.
The Redmi K40 Bruce Lee Edition is on sale in the China along with the rest of the devices. It is available in 12 GB + 256 GB and sells for 2,799 yuan (around US$433) and limited to 4,000 units.
