Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Edition Smartphone

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has just launched a new phone known as the Turbo 3, and it’s a phone that you want to know about if you are a superfan of Harry Potter. That’s right, Redmi has introduced another Harry Potter co-branded device but this time, the new Turbo series took over the wand from the Note Turbo series for this cobrand. I did not find any proof but I believe Redmi has dropped Turbo from the Note lineup and allowed it to become a series of its own. The Turbo sits between the Note and K series. So, yeah, despite its namesake having a “3”, it is not the third Turbo device. It is a new series. This can be not very clear for those who aren’t familiar with Redmi phones.

Before we get to the delightful Harry Potter Edition, let us take a look a the Turbo 3’s specs. It’s powered by the slightly less potent flagship Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, a 4 nm process chipset featuring an octa-core processor (up to 3 GHz clock speed) with an Adreno GPU and Qualcomm AI engine. The device boasts the fastest market-available LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. On the front, it sports a second-generation 1.5K (2,712 x 1,220) AMOLED “China” display at 6.67 inches with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a maximum 480 Hz touch sampling rate, 2400 nits peak brightness, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The display features a 20 MP hole-punch HD portrait camera.

The rear dual-camera setup includes a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 sensor HD main camera with an f1.59 aperture, OIS, EIS, and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The Xiaomi imaging chip 2.0 handles the imaging. Additional spec sheet details you may want to know include dual nano-SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-Bluetooth, standard positioning systems, an array of sensors (including IR blaster and NFC), and a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 90 W fast wired charging.

Now on to the exciting part of this device: the Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Edition. The Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Edition stands out with its back design, which showcases a symbol featuring a wand and the spell Lumos, set against a faint pattern formed by Dark Magic Horcruxes. Below is a contrasting gold finish with a gold Hogwarts school crest, achieved through “wizardry-grade craftsmanship” of platinum 3D technique. As before, Redmi has pulled all the stops in giving fans the magical experience through complete Harry Potter theming that goes beyond the phone. The package includes a Hogwarts school crest SIM ejector, a couple of Harry Potter-themed cases, and a bunch of delightful Harry Potter collectibles. Everything is presented in a unique, highly collectible, to-drool-for box. Also, expect to find UI themes for each Hogwarts house.

The standard Turbo 3 is available in several configurations, starting at 1,999 yuan [CH] (about US$276). Meanwhile, the Harry Potter Edition is offered in only 16+512 configuration for 2,699 yuan (around US$373). The Turbo 3 is currently available to order in China. Though I did not see the Harry Potter Edition being listed. As before, the Harry Potter Edition should be a China-exclusive due to the complex licensing mechanics. I could be wrong.
