They say it is a homage to classic cartoon series originally created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry. But deep down we know the real reason why there is a Reebok x Tom and Jerry Collection at this time.
Oh, you don’t know? Well, it is because, in the Chinese zodiac for 2020 is rat and Jerry happens to be a house mouse. Though technically, a rat and mouse are a little different, but we are not going to go there.
So, how sure I am about this? Pretty damn sure because, the fact that this collaborative capsule, which will also include t-shirts, hoodies et cetera (in addition to the obvious sneakers), will launch on January 3 in Hong Kong.
Is that good enough reason for our association between the collection and the Lunar New Year? I should think so. Also, posters of the collection with the oriental-inspired motifs celebrating Chinese New Year pretty much puts it out there.
Pricing of the products are not known at this point. The International website of Reebok is down for maintenance as we were writing this. As for availability, they will be available on Reebok.com and select retailers in Hong Kong.
