over 500 horsepower, 1,000 lb-ft of torque, and 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds. those numbers sure sounds like they’ve come from a supercar. as a matter of fact, they are – except this one is the tree-hugger version that won’t have your eco-conscious burdened with guilt cos’ it is an all electric supercar. meaning, it is void any form of emissions with the exception of the occassional smoke churns out from its massive HRE custom billet 3-piece wheel and Michelin Pilot Super Sport combo. we are talking about the Renovo Coupe from Renovo Motors, which the company proudly stake claims as the first all electric American supercar. we really can’t argue with the numbers and just look at this thing; it basically embodies all the classic elements of a supercar: fastback, stretched bonnet, huge ass tires and wheels combo, and a purposeful stance.
built on the underpinning of factory modified Shelby American CSX9000, it even has the right ‘war paint’ to match: a classic blue, topped with white racing stripes. aesthetically, the car looks seriously like a lovechild of a Datsun/Nissan 280ZX and a Dodge Viper – wearing a Shelby dress, which in our humble opinion, looks kind of rad and surely does its high-performance nature justice. it is powered by direct-drive sequential axial flux motors, which is kept juiced by separate lithium-ion battery pack located under its long hood, for “optimal weight distribution” (though no ratio was provided).
the advanced powertrain enables this 3,250 lbs (1,474 kg) electric beast to make a top speed of over 120 mph (193 km/h), and its onboard battery can be topped in just 30 minutes via fast charger, or in five hours when plugged to a standard Level 2 charger. according to Renovo Motors, the Renovo Coupe will have a limited production and will be built at the Valley. so what’s the price for such exquisite and possibly rare ride? well, expect to shell out a princely sum of $529,000, a price that firmly seals its name as a supercar. on the bright side, you don’t have to wait for long to take the keys; the new kid in the automobile scene promised “deliveries starting 2015.”
