not content with having just a model or two giant smartphones in its arsenal, Samsung has announced yet another 5-inch monster, dubbed the Samsung GALAXY Grand smartphone. though running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the Grand is not a premium phone by any means. it is a smartphone that’s largely occupied with entry-level specifications by today’s standard: 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB of onboard storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card) and a 5.0-inch WVGA TFT touchscreen display offering 800 by 480 resolution. though on the imaging department, the Grand should rank quite high on the decency scale with a 8.0-megapixel BSI autofocus main shooter and a 2.0-megapixel HD front-facing camera. its 8MP shooter is given further given a boast with zero shutter lag and ultra-quick camera start-up, and of course, full HD video recording. other features include dual SIM, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, WiFi, a 2,100 mAh lithium-ion battery and the usual suite of sensors including A-GPS, accelerometer, light, proximity, digital compass as well as gyroscope. of course, along with it also comes the usual Samsung induced Android features including Direct Call, Smart Alert, Popup Video, S Voice and AllShare Play, just to name a few. looking at the spec sheet, we have little doubt of what the Samsung GALAXY Grand Smartphone is: an entry-level 5-inch mega-size smartphone. no words its pricing or availability though but we suspect it could very be a Korea-only handset.
