A black squarish gadget clipped to a content creator’s shirt or jacket is a common sight because that is what the current state of wearable microphones is: a boring device that kills your OOTD. The Saramonic BlinkMe Wireless Smart Microphone, however, is not that.
Saramonic BlinkMe Wireless Smart Microphone defies microphone convention by bringing touchscreens into the mix. That’s right. That’s “touchscreen” with an “s” because it has not one but two touchscreens. There’s one on the receiver and one on the transmitter.
The large 1.3” touchscreen interface on the transmitter offers easy access to all operations during recordings. In addition, the TFT display lets users ascertain the present recording status at a glance and also offers a form of branding for the audience because users can customize the UI and wallpaper via an app. Moreover, the button functions are customizable too.
Meanwhile, the RX is outfitted with a 0.9” full-viewing angle display. The displays are protected by Panda glass with AF coating. An optimized 2.4 GHz wireless transmission technology ensures a reliable and steady stream of audio. The Saramonic BlinkMe Wireless Smart Microphone boasts storage for up to 15 hours of 48 KHz/23-bit audio recording. Plus, it also offers a secondary audio safety track at -6 dB that can be recorded as a backup in the event of unforeseeable technical hiccups.
Both the TX and RX are equipped with rechargeable batteries, with up to 9 hours of operations for the transmitter and up to 24 hours for the receiver. The receiver is akin to the charging case of TWS earbuds; it can provide 4.5 hours of battery life for each transmitter automatically and serves as a charging dock for the transmitter.
Other notables include flexible mono and stereo functions, one-click noise reduction, real-time and playback monitoring, and the ability to record two devices at the same time.
The Saramonic BlinkMe Wireless Smart Microphone was revealed at the NAB Show last month. It is supposed to be available “around May 02, 2023” for US$249.
