Singapore Changi Airport Connector Jurassic Mile

Singapore has many “park connectors” for residents to cycle and run. Nothing out of the ordinary, really. But this latest addition stood out because, it involved some Jurassic creatures.

The newly opened connector is the Changi Airport Connector is a 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) cycling and jogging path between the National Service Resort & Country Club and Changi International Airport Terminal 2.

Strangely, a stretch of this newly open cycling and jogging path is coined “Jurassic Mile”. This is a section (I am guessing a mile long?) where life-sized sculptures of dinosaur can be found chilling out among the natural vegetation.

It is weird because, no dinosaur fossils were ever found in Singapore and so, the incorporation of dinosaurs – nine species in total – is really quite a bizarre decision. But I guess, it kind of breaks the monotony of natural, lush green vegetation. And using wildlife sculptures may spook some people?

Among the species featured are the infamous Tyrannosaurus rex (aka T-rex), Velociraptors and Ankylosauruses. Somehow, these prehistoric creatures are not feathered which research had proved that some dinosaurs actually had feathers as opposed to leathery skin. Anyways, beyond the Jurassic stretch, modern amenities like showers, bicycle rental, and more, awaits.
