with the new Sony MDR-XB Headphones, we think we have take back our words about how Sony’s product, headphones in particular, always take on the straight-face, serious design. the latest cans, dubbed the Sony X Headphones, announced is the result of the collaboration between Sony and Syco Entertainment, a global joint venture between Simon Cowell and Sony Music Entertainment. hence, it is no surprise that where the namesake ‘X’ came from. featuring 50mm drivers for a rich, full-range audio reproduction, this pair of audio cans features a dual-folding design with swivel-able earcups, 50mm drivers for a rich, full-range audio reproduction that is said to be suitable across a broad range of music genres, pressure-relieving memory form earpads that conform to user’s ear shape while providing enhanced acoustic seal, detachable cable with grooved serrations design for minimize tangle, and iDevice-compatible three-button inline remote with integrated microphone for music control, as well as taking of calls. construction-wise, Sony has opted for aluminum as the material, using them on the cans’ headband, swivel mechanisms and end caps. the Sony X Headphones will make its appearance at the premiere of The X Factor in Los Angeles on 11th of this month and will be moonlighting throughout the whole season. costing $299 a pair, the Sony X Headphones is available from today onwards via Sony online store and from September 15th in Sony’s brick and mortar stores and other authorized retailers. click through for larger views and a couple of close-ups.
