Sony should be awarded for consistency with its phone. For a few years now, they have consistently announced the new device on May 13. This year is no different. The Sony Xperia 1 VII was announced on this date. It should also be awarded for consistency in design. The new Sony Xperia 1 VII looks almost identical to its forebears.
Unlike iPhone, it has no pressure for change in aesthetics. Rightly so because what matters most is what’s under the hood. But there’s one small change in the design this time; it now has two bolder colors in addition to the usual black. White (or was it beige?) colorway has apparently been ditched.

You just wave the camera in the general direction, and voilà.
The 48 MP ultra-wide lens, improved Exmor T sensor, and optical zoom up to 170 mm will keep content creators happy, while Walkman DNA pumps premium sound through wired and wireless headphones alike. The 6.5-inch 4K OLED display adapts its brightness like a BRAVIA TV, even in harsh sunlight. Plus, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, it’s 40% faster and 10% more power-efficient, letting you stretch up to two days of use.
The Sony Xperia 1 VII is available starting on May 13 in Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple via Sony and select online retailers in supported regions, priced at around €1499 (approximately US$1,599)—or 1,399 quid for those residing in the U.K. It is not officially sold in the U.S.A.
