SpaceGodzilla Soft Vinyl - Trendy Variant

Every Godzilla fan would be familiar with SpaceGodzilla. This outer space, heavily-modified Godzilla clone kaiju first appeared in the 1994 Godzilla movie, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. Even then I assure you that no fans have imagined this sci-fi Gojira will be this colorful.

Folks, meet the SpaceGodzilla Soft Vinyl – Trendy Variant. The SpaceGodzilla reemerges in Mondo’s Toho Soft Vinyl line as a prismatic Trendy Variant. It is presented in, well, bright, psychedelic colors. The collectible is a nod to the Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla poster by the legendary Noriyoshi Ohrai, who is also known for his works for Star Wars and Metal Gear titles.

Anyhoo, the said poster was released in conjunction with the movie’s theatrical run in Japan, and it’s the artist’s ode to the Heisei-era 1994 film.

This particular figure was designed, sculpted, and painted by Hector Arce and measures 9.5 inches (24 cm) tall, 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide, and 10 inches (25 cm) in length, and is limited to an edition run of just 250.

The asking price was US$150 a pop.

Yes, “was” because it was, not surprisingly, sold out in a jiffy. We received this news in our inbox on March 22 and at the time of writing this article, it was sold out which is a super bummer. Expect scalpers to be peddling this little guy on eBay when it starts to get their hands on it this July. Ugh.
