Remember the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Moonphase, featuring Peanuts’ Snoopy? Notwithstanding Swatch stressing that the watch is NOT a limited production watch, there was a queue during launch day in Singapore. Granted the queue wasn’t as crazy as two years ago when the Moonwatch was launched. Anyhoo, the Swatch x OMEGA Mission To The Moonphase – Full Moon is now joined by a black variant called Mission To The Moonphase – New Moon.
I wanted to say if you missed the first, you can get the black version. Then again both watches are not-limited models, so I do not need to say that. But I’d say if you own the first, then it only makes sense to complete the collection with the New Moon.
The Swatch x OMEGA Mission To The Moonphase – New Moon is identical to the Full Moon, except that it is in black. However, it is worth noting that the Moon around the back is still in white.
It also boasts a moon phase on the dial complete with a snoozing Snoopy, a UV-light-revealed quote from a Snoopy comic strip, and nods to Omega’s historical space exploration achievements, including the Silver Snoopy Award received in 1970 for Omega’s critical role in the Apollo 13 mission’s success.
Constructed from Swatch’s patented Bioceramic, the watches mirror Omega’s Speedmaster Moonwatch design elements, including the asymmetrical case, tachymeter-scaled bezel, and characteristic subdials. The collection embodies space exploration heritage with a modern twist, complete with Velcro straps for an astronaut-ready look.
As mentioned, the Mission To The Moonphase watches, including the new New Moon model, are non-limited editions with the new Mission To The Moonphase going on sale starting April 08, 2024, in select Swatch stores for US$310.
