If the different smart home standards have stopped you from adopting smart home technologies, then you will be glad there is Matter. Why Matter matters? Well, it is the latest wireless interoperability standard that unifies the smart home and should make using smart home standards from different brands possible (learn more HERE). If you have the intention to adopt Matter, you may be interested to know SwitchBot introduced its first Matter Hub at last week’s CES.
The SwitchBot Matter Hub, dubbed Hub 2, will enable the brand’s ecosystem products to work with Matter, starting with the SwitchBot Curtain. The SwitchBot Hub 2 is more than just a bridge for SwitchBot products that allow them to be controlled on Apple Home or other platforms; it is also a useful gadget for checking temperature and humidity on Apple Home based on Hub 2’s thermo-hygrometer function.
The device has a LED display that can change brightness based on ambient brightness – thanks to the built-in light sensor. On the hardware itself, it has two Scene Keys that you can use to activate Scene presets in the SwitchBot app which is pretty snazzy, IMHO.
The support for the SwitchBot Curtain is expected to happen in February when the Hub 2 launches. Meanwhile, you may learn more on the product page.
