GM’s SURUS Platform Is The Future Of Trucks With Autonomous Capabilities

No. The thing you see up there is not a glorified, oversized electric skateboard. Though it might very well be if there are giants that live among us. It is a thing called SURUS, the abbreviation for Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure, developed by General Motors. It is the next-generation of mobility leveraging on flexible fuel cell electric platform which, when paired with autonomous capabilities, is GM’s answer to the “toughest transportation challenges” posed by “natural disasters, complex logistics environments and global conflicts.” Continue reading GM’s SURUS Platform Is The Future Of Trucks With Autonomous Capabilities

I Can’t Stop Thinking About Chevy’s Custom 1967 C-10 Pickup Truck

The sleek lines offered on today’s pickup truck are pretty. I am not going to deny it. However, there is this thing found in the pickup trucks from the 60-80s that have me faithfully loving them until today. I love how pickup trucks of those days looked. You know, the straight, flat look with the right amount of chrome on them. They are so clean and yet speaks volume. It is like, there was a lot of things happening on it, but never intrusive or an eyesore. Those are exactly the ‘qualities’ found on the custom 1967 C-10 pickup revealed by Chevrolet at the Texas State Fair. Look, Chevrolet Built A Life-size The LEGO Batman Movie’s Batmobile

During the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) last month, American automaker surprised visitors with a unlikely ‘concept car’: a life-size LEGO Batmobile straight out of LEGO animated flick The LEGO Batman Movie. Created in collaboration with students from Detroit’s Cody Rouge community, A World in Motion and First LEGO League, this bricksomeful crimefighting vehicle, which stretches 17 feet long (a little shorter than Sawaya’s creation), measures 9.25 feet across and stands 6.92 feet tall (about 5.2 x 2.8 x 2.1 meters), is made up of a whopping 344,187 LEGO bricks and weighs in at a hefty 1,695.5 pounds (769 kg). This 75 Year-Old Futurliner Still Look Fantastically Futuristic Today!

The forties wasn’t the happiest decade for the world, but still it brought us Winston Churchill, Velcro, Tupperware, Jeep, and than there was this relatively unknown but awesome Jetsons kind of futuristic vehicle called GM Futurliner Vehicle Carrier. Futurliners started as purpose-built vehicle for the 1939 New York’s Fair and they were used in GM’s Parade of Progress campaign, touring North America to educate the masses on subjects like jet travel, agriculture, traffic engineering, stereos, televisions and even microwave oven. 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible

there are reasons why convertibles are hardly high powered rides. chopping off the top often means sacrificing structural integrity. not that it can’t be done. it can, but at the expense of increase in weight which no self-respecting car makers or motoring enthusiasts would approve of. however, with the advancement in technologies, the holy matrimony between drop top and massive horsepower becomes a reality, as proven by the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible, which not only loses the roof in favor of an electric fold-top, but also comes standard with 600 crazy horsepower pumped out by the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. it is the same power plant found in the coupe variant, which means it has the same jaw-dropping 635 lb-ft (860 Nm) to offer too. Vauxhall Astra VXR EXTREME

we seriously think today’s ‘household’ name hot hatches lack the punch and the ‘punch’ we are talking is not 100 or 200 horses machines, we are talking about something with a lot more oomph. something like, say, over 300 PS? a dream you said? well, not exactly because that’s what the Vauxhall Astra VXR EXTREME aka Opel Astra OPC EXTREME will have under the hood. powered by an all-aluminum 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the Astra VXR EXTREME is a street-legal race derivative of the last year’s Astra Cup race car and will be the most powerful front-wheel drive Vauxhall ever when it officially premier at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Vauxhall Adam Rocks Urban Mini Crossover

alas! the category of crossover just got blurrier – thanks to a cute little vehicle known as Adam Rocks Urban Mini Crossover from Vauxhall. first previewed at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, Adam Rocks is en-route to this year’s Geneva event as a production-ready car. you can call Adam Rocks a compact hatch or whatever you want, but Vauxhall think it is a crossover, a mini one for today’s urban environment and it had a heart that speaks decent performance and should be a little wallet-friendly when it comes to topping up the gas. the Adam Rocks is the first Vauxhall to get the new 113 hp 1.0-liter ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo three-cylinder petrol unit which also touts a pretty impressive 166 Nm of torque (122 lb-ft) and it has got an electric folding canvas roof to boot too. Chevrolet Silverado Black Ops Concept Survival Truck

how would an automaker make a statement that their trucks are built for virtually any unforeseen circumstances? we don’t see much of these apocalypse-prep vehicles in real life and so, we wouldn’t quite know, but Chevy seems to have some idea, one that’s far less menacing than Hyundai’s deadly Walking Dead example, but no less practical when you call upon it to help you survive the worst. that’s exactly what Chevy is putting forth with the Chevrolet Silverado Black Ops Concept Survival Truck you see here. under the hood, it has the same innards as the 2014 Silverado with an EcoTec3 5.3-liter V8 unit, pumping out 355 horses and 383 lb-ft of torque, or with an option 6.2-liter V8 and max towing package if towing is your kind of thing. 2014 Cadillac ELR Extended Range EV

2014 Cadillac ELR Extended Range EV
we are skeptics when it comes to EV. we didn’t think the range, though pretty impressive by today’s standard, gives us any peace of mind. with gas-powered units, you can easily top up those environment-unfriendly fossil fuel as quickie and easily as taking a dive into a pool in a hot summer day but charging a vehicle with electrons is anything but. so the best bet for now until super rapid charging becomes a norm, an extend range electric vehicle such as the 2014 Cadillac ELR Extended Range EV will be the safer bet for paranoid and impatience folks like us.
