Parrot’s Newest Drones Are Here To Help Firefighters And Farmers

For an organization who knows drone like DJI did, it is a bit of surprise that Parrot did not dive into the commercial sector until of late when it positioned its consumer drones as 3D modelling and mapping. Anyways, it is a logical business progression which the French company is following up with two new drones, Bebop-Pro Thermo and Bluegrass, aimed at firefighters and farmers, respectively. The firefighting drone is, as the product name hinted, is based on the company’s Bebop drone. It does not fight fire per se (obviously…), but with a 14MP camera and FLIR One Pro thermal imaging camera, Bebop-Pro Thermo can serve as eyes in the sky during critical rescue missions. Parrot Disco Smart Flying Wing Is Capable Of A Top Speed Of 50 MPH

Due to the nature of multi-rotor setup, multicopters are, generally speaking, not very fast. So, if you seek the thrill of speed in a drone with the benefit of a first person view, Parrot’s new Disco FPV Smart Flying Wing Drone could be an answer. For one thing, if speed is what you after, this drone offers you up to a blazing 50 miles an hour (80 km/h) and if you don’t already know, it is, apparently, the first in the world of smart flying wing to do so. Together with Parrot Cockpitglasses, a first-person view goggle and Skycontroller 2, it would probably feel as if you are speeding amongst the imposing canyons like a daredevil, but without the actual risk except for, knock on wood, putting a $1,299.99 rig at stake. Apart from speed, it has good numbers in range and flight times too, yielding 1.24 miles (about 2.2 kilometers), 45 minutes flight time per charge, respectively. Parrot Second-Gen Bebop Imaging Drone Is Faster And Flies Longer

The fun of hobbyist drones are hampered by battery life. I mean, 10 minutes may seem like eternity if you don’t have clue about flying or don’t know what you are doing, but for the rest, 10 minutes may feel like a minute or two. That’s the problem the new Parrot Bebop 2 Drone solves. The new-generation Bebop doubles the flight time of its predecessor, offering up to 25 minutes of flight and it is also significantly faster, capable of zipping around at 37 miles an hour as you go about recording in 1080p with its 14MP fisheye-lens camera, stabilized by a software image processor. The thing about Bebop (this or the previous version) is, it has a fixed camera, which means it is more suited for first person flying then to do actual aerial-to-ground imaging. Though it does allow for virtual panning, executed through the video beamed to your mobile device over WiFi. Continue reading Parrot Second-Gen Bebop Imaging Drone Is Faster And Flies Longer

Parrot Unveiled 13 New Minidrones, Including Drone-powered Hydrofoils

Imaging drones are not for everyone. Some just want to have fun chasing after one another with drones and for that, Parrot has the right stuff you. Encouraged by the success of the company’s first minidrones, Jumping Sumo and Minidrone, which have sold over 600,000 units, the French company has unveiled a slew of minidrones to prepare you for the drone world domination. In all there are 13 of them across three ‘families’, namely ‘Jumping’, ‘Airborne’ and ‘Hydrofoil’. Continue reading Parrot Unveiled 13 New Minidrones, Including Drone-powered Hydrofoils

Parrot Bebop Drone Wants You To Take Aerial Video Like A Pro

all this while Parrot has been referring its A.R.Drone as, well, drone, but is it really? we think not, at least not in our books. however, the new Parrot Bebop Drone might just be worthy of the drone namesake and not only that, it goes beyond the realm of toy by offering serious aerial videography – thanks to its onboard 14MP camera, equipped with a 180-degree FOV fisheye lens, which can pan and tilt while the drone hovers. behold, the era of personal aerial surveillance is upon us and before you know it, everyone is snooping on each other from the sky. the camera boasts 3-axis digital image-stabilization that maintains a smooth footage regardless of the drone’s movement and has an onboard storage of 8GB. also onboard is a 1,200 mAh lithium-ion battery with measly 12 minutes flight time per 2.5 hours charge, but thankfully, the battery is hot swappable so you can quickly switch to a fresh pack to continue your fun, albeit being slightly disrupted. Parrot Jumping Sumo

we can’t make out what kind of vehicle the Parrot Jumping Sumo is, so we are just going to go with the French firm description of “half robot, half insect” vehicle. also introduced at the CES, along with the MiniDrone, the Jumping Sumo is probably the most exciting land-going remote control toy we have seen since the remote control flying car. why? because it jumps. instead of having to accumulate enough kinetic energy to make a jump with the aid of a ramp like a normal four wheeled remote control car, the Jumping Sumo is capable of jumping as high as 80 cm (31 inches) from a standstill position. the magic lies in the powerful tail of this “insectoid” that’s design with the sole purpose of ejecting the ‘bot into the air and the coolest part is, it will always land on its wheels no matter what. Parrot MiniDrone

instead of offering yet another minute update to the A.R.Drone such as the recent “power edition“, Parrot has a new flyer to showoff at this year’s CES and it is called the Parrot MiniDrone. though termed “mini”, this baby is hardly a scaled down version of the A.R.Drone; it is a fresh new design that uses Bluetooth Smart (aka Low Energy) to connect to your smartphone or tablet (as oppose to built-in WiFi on the A.R.), and it now does without an onboard camera. it offers incredible flight stability in indoor environment, thanks to the myriad of sensors and onboard autopilot capability, while a lightweight construction and powerful motors combine to offer the MiniDrone high speed flight and ability to execute acrobatics. Parrot A.R.Drone 2.0 Power Edition

we are sure most of us are familiar with Parrot A.R.Drone by now. unless you are a pro flyer, the current state of battery life of this lovely, advanced remote flying quadcopter should be more than sufficient, but if you have already reached the Nirvana of A.R.Drone piloting, the 12 minutes or so of flight time would be something to sneer at and that’s why now there is the Parrot A.R.Drone 2.0 Power Edition. it is the A.R.Drone 2.0 that you know, but now comes packed with two 1,500 mAh high density lithium-polymer batteries, letting it stay aloft for up to 36 minutes. with the extended playable time, there are no more excuses of not being able to master the art of flying the 2.0. Continue reading Parrot A.R.Drone 2.0 Power Edition

Parrot ASTEROID Tablet

is your tablet really car-friendly? we supposed it does serve its purpose when onboard your ride but do you really need a mini TV hanging around the front of your car? perhaps not. with the Parrot ASTEROID Tablet, you can now actually own a car-focused tablet that is also your in-car multimedia system. just think of it as a portable double-DIN system, albeit being slightly scaled down, that you can pocket it around. the advantage is obvious: you will save yourself the trouble of switching out your vehicle’s stock head unit and still have all the benefits, and features of a modern in-car entertainment system. senseFly eBee Autonomous Ultralight UAV

thanks to the advancement in radio controlled aircraft, aerial photography/videography has never been easier but there’s a catch here: not everyone has the right skill set to maneuver a flying machine, much less getting it to go precisely the way you wanted. this is where an autonomous UAV like the commercially available senseFly eBee Autonomous Ultralight UAV can help. measuring just 96 centimeters (about 38 inches) across and tipping the scale at a mere 630 grams (1.4 lbs), the eBee (an oddly named aircraft, if we might add) can take to the sky for up to 45 minutes on its lithium polymer battery pack Continue reading senseFly eBee Autonomous Ultralight UAV
