Technics is relatively new to True Wireless Sound (TWS) technology, having ventured into it just two years ago but it being Technics, sound quality is kinda assured. The real question is likely to be how good it is. However, I’m not entirely sure if it should command as high a price as Sony’s successor to the critically acclaimed Sony WF-1000XM4, the WF-1000XM5.
The predecessor of the WF-1000XM5 has certainly garnered significant praise among audiophiles. So, in any case, as mentioned, if you value 55 years of audio experience, you’ll want to consider the EAH-AZ80. It promises epic, reference-quality high-resolution audio, delivered through a masterfully crafted 10mm free-edge dynamic driver and a unique acoustic structure. It also boasts advanced, industry-leading noise cancellation and enhanced Technics’ JustMyVoice technology for crystal-clear calls.
Furthermore, it can simultaneously connect to three devices, a feature, I believe, not common among other True Wireless Sound devices at this time. So props to Technics. Another noteworthy feature is the use of high-quality concha fit foam that conforms to the ear for snug stability and the fact that it includes not three or four, but a whopping seven sizes of silicone earpieces, providing a customized fit unmatched by others.
Additional highlights comprise an IPX4 equivalent rating for the earbuds, monaural and MEMS microphones, USB charging via a Type-C interface, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and approximately 7 hours of playback with noise cancellation enabled. Additionally, the charging case provides around 24 hours of playback – also with noise cancellation turned on.
