MINI, the marque that makes road-legal “go-kart” has just revealed a special edition JCW model, the MINI John Cooper Works 3-door 1to6 Edition. Before you go ga-ga over it, you have to know that it is not for everyone. The MINI John Cooper Works 3-door 1to6 Edition is reserved for those who want to experience unadulterated driving aka driving with a stick shift.
The newly announced MINI John Cooper Works 3-door 1to6 Edition is offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, mated to a 4-cylinder petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology that delivers 231 horsepower which affords a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in just 6.3 seconds.
The car is presented with fixed specification, and in an all-black exterior design in a finish called Midnight Black Metallic with Piano Black exterior trim, Jet Black 18” Circuit Spoke alloy wheels, darkened rear glass, and edition-specific motifs, like the center-running hood stripe, featuring a repeated manual transmission graphic, spanning the entire length of the vehicle, as well as bespoke 1to6 Edition badging which can be found on the C-pillar, side scuttles, and the rear
Meanwhile, the red-accented cabin also sports the 1to6 Edition emblems, a Nappa leather sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, stitched leather gear shift, ambient lighting, and a glowing bezel around the central instrument.
Other standard features include heated front seats, electric folding door mirrors, driving assistance, reverse camera, parking assistant, an 8.8” touch display with MINI Navigation System, Apply Carplay, wireless charging, head-up display, and Harman Kardon Surround Sound. In the cabin, you can also find the edition number “x of 999” embossed on the left of the steering wheel as well as printed on Panoramic Sunroof.
That’s right. The MINI John Cooper Works 3-door 1to6 Edition has a limited run of 999 units worldwide. We are not sure if the U.S. will be getting any and if yes, how many, but we do know that the U.K. is allotted 150 units and it is available to order for £39,600 OTR (around US$49,192).
In the meantime, celebrating MINI John Cooper Works models’ roots in motorsport, the MINI John Cooper Works 3-door 1to6 Edition sports car will make its world premiere at the Nürburgring 24-hour race on May 20, 2023 (Saturday, Germany time).
