There is something strangely alluring about minimalistic timepieces. The fact that such timepieces have only one information to offer (and that’s time-telling, btw), it leaves the rest of the attention directed at the hardware itself. Having loads of information is not a statement. Essential information presented elegantly is statement and The Pursuit “Sunburst Series” Wrist Watch by Noble Timepieces happens to be one fits that bill. Yes. It makes a statement and it beckons you to take a second or third look. Though minimalistic, it bears an unexplainable aura. Maybe it is just me. I have this penchant for the minimalistic, but not the Rado kind of simplicity. Something a little more solid which we find in the Pursuit “Sunburst Series” wrist watches.
If you think Sunburst looks somewhat familiar, well, that’s because it is a follow up the watchmaker’s first time piece called The Pursuit. Both The Pursuit and The Pursuit “Sunburst Series” shares the same perfectly round dial face, which sits sunken inside a thick case. The finished of the dial face creates an effect of beams radiating outward form the center, which becomes even more pronounced when light lands on it. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, Sunburst has an ample 45mm case (though we would love to have it bigger at 48mm or bigger), which measures a cool 10mm thick. To be honest, that 10mm is the main reason why we are writing about it cos’ we love how minimalist watch isn’t thin.
As far as aesthetic is concern, we think Sunburst is a winner and it totally looks like something Dieter Rams would have approved of. Speaking of which, we thought it does look a little like the Braun watches, only sharper and that’s exactly how we like it. Other details include Swiss-made Ronda 763 Quartz movement, sapphire crystal lens, water resistance to 5ATM (165 feet or 50 meters), beautiful engraved serialized caseback, and each pair comes standard with 24mm wide, handmade genuine calfskin leather strap. And oh, did we mention that these are small batch watches? Which means exclusivity also comes as standard. The Pursuit “Sunburst Series” Wrist Watch by Noble Timepiece is available in Gold, Silver and Black finishes, paired with a choice of leather strap, red, tan, gray, as well as black.
