The Wheel All-Terrain Monowheel Cart by The Real Wheel

Camping or a day out on the beach is fun, but getting there can be a pain on the back, like quite literally – especially when the destination is off the beaten path. Imagine the amount of gear you have to carry on your back or by hand because of limited access by vehicles. In this case, you could get yourself an ATV, but lets get real, not everyone can afford an ATV trailer, much less an ATV, and hence, the existence of The Wheel. The Wheel is an-terrain monowheel cart – the first in the world, if we are not mistaken – that is also a table and cooler.

It has a striking design that looks like a miniature road roller, except that it has only one roller. The Wheel’s large and super wide hub-less non-slip monowheel enables it to traverse across all sorts of terrain, be it sand or rocks, with ease while carrying 200 lbs (about 90 kilograms) worth of gear. Thanks to the enormous wheel, it can even roll down most stairs easily too. Though it could be a daunting task hauling 200 lbs back up. The generous cavity in the monowheel is home to a removable cylindrical bag that serves as a storage for your gear and also doubles as a cooler.

Quick snap fasteners ensure the gear bag stays in place inside the wheel as it glides over whatever that stands in its way. A flat surface up top provides a second storage place, or more correctly put, a placement area, suitable for larger and/or bulkier stuff like folding chairs, additional bags and whatnot, secured down with bungee cords to the cart’s bungee attachment points. The flat-out top also doubles as an outdoor table, complete with a pair of cupholders, while integrated kickstands keep the 25 lbs (11 kilograms) cart stable when stationary, so you won’t have a case of a runaway wheel.

I know. The construction equipment-ish look is not for everyone, but hey, if it serves its purpose and does not sink into sand, then it is all good for us. If you think The Wheel is something you could use, you may want to consider backing The Real Wheel campaign on Kickstarter to make it a reality. A pledge of at least $299 will secure you a unit, but that’s only if the campaign meets or surpasses it set funding goal. Have a look at the product pitch video below to see The Wheel in action.
