Tomica is no stranger to putting out die-cast cars inspired by the Evangelion Racing motorsport team. It has released a number of them, but its latest puts the spotlight on the team’s unsung hero: its support vehicle, an EVA Unit-02-themed Toyota Hiace van. The Tomica EVA RT2 Toyota Hiace is modeled after the actual support vehicle that accompanied Evangelion Racing to race venues across Japan during the 2025 season.
The vehicle features a red livery inspired by Evangelion Unit-02 from the franchise. “EVAR” branding can be found on the sides and front, while the roof bears a large NERV logo. Over at the rear, there are several sponsor logos and another minimalist NERV emblem. Save for the typical Tomica wheelset, the die-cast model is as detailed as you can get. It would be nice to have the same wheel design as the real deal, but I have to admit, it looks great overall.
The Tomica EVA RT2 Toyota Hiace is set to be released in October 2026 and will be available from merchandise booths at races and other circuit events attended by Evangelion Racing, as well as the official Evangelion Store. Fret not if you won’t be attending any of the races, as it is also available for preorder from the Supporto website for 1,500 yen, tax included [JP] (about US$9.20). Shipping is not included. However, Supporto does not ship internationally, btw.
