LEGO and MINI enthusiasts rejoice. the classic MINI finally gets its deserving brick treatment and it will be out in August 2014 for $99.99. comprising of 1,077 pieces, this LEGO Creator set features the iconic MINI Cooper Mk VII in the familiar British racing green, complete with white roof, white racing stripes and small, fat wheels and tires combo. the 10242 LEGO MINI Cooper features several first time pieces in British racing green and accurately depicts the signature lines of the MINI Cooper that many of us held so dearly.
key features include opening doors, hood and trunk, spare wheel in concealed compartment (in the trunk, naturally), detailed engine, trademark flared fenders, round headlamps and fog lights, iconic front grill, white wing mirrors, and it has a roof that can be removed to reveal a detailed beige and gray interior with turning steering wheel, moving gear lever, ‘veneer-style’ dashboard and more. it even come with a picnic basket, a bottle (presumably, with ‘water’) and picnic blanket for you to re-enact the nostalgic picnic outing that probably your dad and mum used to enjoy amongst the lush greenies that have since been mowed down to make way for malls and such. what a waste, ain’t it? anyway, that’s just some random rant.
as far as the images are concerned, which you can find around this post, the details are nothing short of incredible. the 10242 LEGO MINI Cooper, when assembled, measures over 11 cm tall, 25 cm long and 14 cm wide (4″ x 9″ x 5″). it will be available starting in August through LEGO online store, as well as LEGO stores, or if you prefer via the good’ol phone. for serious fans, August may seems like an eternity, but fret not, we have a few videos to tie you over and get you all pumped up.
