Tomoloo Dragon Knight H3 3-Wheel Skateboard

The purveyor ridiculously expensive stuff, Hammacher Schlemmer, is no stranger to selling small mobility devices like skateboard, scooter and stuff, but this one here, called Tomoloo Dragon Knight H3 3-Wheel Skateboard, is different. Firstly, it is a skateboard that has just three wheels. It looks like kids’ skatescooter but without the handle. Secondly, it is, well, self-balancing, so you can enjoy zipping around at up to 17 mph (27 km/h) without being bothered by balancing which, really, isn’t that hard. But hey, if you prefer machine to do the job for you, then this is it.

Also, it has a super dope designed said to be inspired by Nordic mythical dragon called, erhmm, Frey? If anything, it is, like its maker Tomoloo claims, a new breed of skateboards. Strangely, it has a LCD dashboard for displaying essential telemetry (you know, speed, distance traveled and whatnot) up at the nose.. and on the board… so, I am guessing, this board kind of expecting you not to stand up? Maybe? I speaking for people who does not have good eyesight, btw.

The ride itself is drive forth by a 250-watt electric motor which in turn is juiced by a 36V battery good for up to 11 miles (about 18 km) on a single charge. It is pretty lightweight as far as electric skateboard is concerned, tipping the scales at just 25 lbs (11 kilos), but the motor and the construction can totally support a grown man weighing as much as 265 lbs (120 kilos).

Control is granted through the included wireless remote, or you can choose to use the free Android and iOS app to set the speed, control the linear brakes, turn on/off the onboard LED lights and operate the skateboard’s built-in Bluetooth speakers. Yup. It has Bluetooth speakers built into it too.

No details on how the self-balancing works, but hey, if it “just works,” we are good – only if we can get over the rather hefty asking price of $699.95. Take a look at the Dragon in action below.
