This result in typical working class folks like us eating out, which ain’t exactly a healthy option. While you are exploring the market for a home food delivery, a startup wants you to put on your apron again but with the promise that you can do so in 30 minutes or less. How so? With Tovala, a smart multi-function oven that comes with a food delivery plan – so you can skip the mundane grocery shopping and food preparation process, and jump right into cooking “healthy, tasty, chef-curated meals.” Tovala promised “all meals are made from scratch using raw, simple, clean ingredients with names you recognize,” and preservatives-free.
How it work is really simple. All you need to do is to scan the meal’s barcode, place in the smart kitchen appliance and hit start, and depending on the meal, Tovala will bake, broil, steam and/or convention heats as required to whip up a meal in 10-30 minutes. And whenever you have time to do-it-yourself, a companion app is at your disposal to command the oven to do your bidding, or you could just input your desire cooking method directly on the oven itself. Tovala promised a selection of meal options ranging from paleo to gluten-free to low-carb to low-sugar diet, each packing between 400 and 800 calories, delivered to your doorstep.
Well, it sure sounds like a perfect solution between cooking (and eating at 8 or 9 pm) and eating Chinese takeaway. If this appeals to you, well, you are not alone. It looks like some 800 folks are yearning for this appliance and food delivery plan combo and have helped to fund Tovala’s Kickstarter campaign to a tune of $208,820 well before the campaign ends. And the price? It starts at $199 (eventual retail price is said to be $329). A pretty reasonable sticker for a multi-function connected oven, but do note that the pricing does not included the meals which will cost between $10 and $15.
