remember those good old trading cards that even kids of today’s are still fondly collecting them? well, an Italian trading card company, Panini is set to give the trading card market a boost with its latest product known as Panini HRX (Highlight Reel Xperience). the card will still be made from card but with an addition of a LCD screen that touted to have a “HD quality” screen.

each card will have a 2GB storage space and will come preloaded with highlight reel showing footage of a particular sportsman. judging from the image above, it looks like it will have sound too. that’s not all, the card is rewrite-able so you can actually use it for other stuff such as storing of documents and data. however enticing it is, you can’t buy the cards outright but instead, as they will be a redeemable voucher for this video card in some of the regular packs.

perhaps the video cards arrival are timely as kids of today are much more gadget-orientated and for them to be carrying yet another device (or card) with sight and sound should be something that will entice them more than cards with still images. who knows, they might be rewriting the cards to store data of their school projects too. i can only sit and watch in admiration how fortunate today’s kids are.
