We were surprised by the fact that we didn’t feature the Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece Movie MPM-11 when it was released in 2020, especially since I own the toy myself. However, we’re in luck because the folks over at Takara Tomy have decided to release another version, this time based on Ratchet’s appearance in the third Transformers movie, Dark of the Moon.
Using the original MPM-11 mold, Takara Tomy has given the Autobot medical specialist a fire department green-and-white paint job and deco as he appeared in the 2011 film. This is essentially a repaint of the original. It means it’s an officially licensed Hummer H2 that can transform into a robot in a whopping 61 steps.
The Transformers Masterpiece Movie MPM-11D Ratchet [JP] includes highly articulated hands, a movable mouth, and accessories like missiles, a buzzsaw, and a laser cannon. Like the original, it also boasts die-cast parts, a high deco operation count, and over 35 points of articulation. Please note that this is presented in its original packaging, which includes Japanese-language instructions.
The new Transformers Masterpiece Movie MPM-11D Ratchet Dark of the Moon Version will be released in late March 2024 with an MSRP of 24,200 yen. For those in the U.S., you can pre-order it from Hasbropulse.com for $169.99, with shipping starting in June 2024.
