If you haven’t already heard, fans of live-action Transformers was treated to an awesome news last week. Toy maker Hasbro revealed that Bumblebee movie’s Optimus Prime will be joining the Masterpiece Movie lineup. The Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece Movie MPM-12 Optimus Prime was revealed in a live-streamed event in China.
For the uninitiated Masterpiece Movie is a high-end collectible toy line based on the live-action film series. This latest MPM collectible, transforming action figure, which stands 11 inches (about 28 centimeters) tall in robot mode, features movie-accurate look of the noble leader of the Autobots as seen in the 2018 Bumblebee movie.
Highlights include 49-step transformation, over 50 points of articulation (including much yearned for articulated fingers), 150 painted details, and die cast elements. The toy further features a Matrix of Leadership which can be stored in Prime’s opening chest and collapsible gun with storage on vehicle mode, albeit in a somewhat awkward manner:
The Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece Movie MPM-12 Optimus Prime is set to release in August 2021. Pre-ordering is already happening in China, at Hasbro’s Transformers flagship store on Tmall.com. The asking price? A cool 1,199 yuan, or around US$186. Damn. Is it me or is Transformers Masterpiece Movie is getting more expensive?
