We just saw a tweet saying there will be some big Transformers toys announcement tomorrow (May 11, 2022, Japan Time) but I guess we don’t need to wait till May 11. Well, at least we don’t have to for one very important product: a new Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece.
Not to be confused with the recently revealed Takara Tomy Masterpiece Movie MPM-13 Blackout. That’s an entirely different line. Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece focuses on recreating cartoon-accurate G1 Transformers characters. And the latest to join this high-end collectible line is Trailbreaker.
The new Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-56 Trailerbreaker takes on the form of a Toyota 4WD camper truck, featuring a swappable cartoon version grill, decoration seal, parabolic antenna, an opening hood that reveals a detailed engine compartment, and opening door with an interior that can fit a mini-figure from MP-44.
Though I can see it will be quite a bit of a squeeze. It looks like the mini-figure will not be able to let down his legs since the vehicle mode Trailerbreaker does not appear to have a proper leg well. In bot mode, Trailerbreaker can be armed with quite a few weapons, interchangeable faces, and posable hands. The Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-56 Trailerbreaker is expected to go on sale in December 2022 for 21,780 yen (around US$167).
