If you are new to Transformers, you are probably confused by the origin of these robots in disguise. Over the 40 years, the origin story has been addressed. And there have been a couple of versions already. The most recent would be Netflix’s animated series War For Cybertron trilogy. If you haven’t been confused enough, well, get ready to be even more confused because there is going to be another origin story, an animated feature film called Transformers One.
To be fair, Transformers One isn’t a retelling of how Orion Pax became Optimus Prime which most fans already knew. It goes a step back. It is the untold origin story of the Autobots’ leader when he was still known as Orion Pax and D-16 before he became Megatron, and how they were once BFFs before becoming sworn enemies. Yup. Apparently, they were best buds before. Oh my, I sure did not expect that.
The film also goes on to let us in on how Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1, and B127 were once workerbots who were unable to transform and how they gained the ability to transform.
Transformers One is the first ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie with styling very much like the Netflix series. It features the voice of Chris Hemsworth (Orion Pax/Optimus Prime), Brian Tyree Henry (D-16/Megatron), Scarlett Johansson (Elita-1), Keegan-Michael Key (B-127/Bumblebee), Laurence Fishburne (Alpha Trion), Jon Hamm (Sentinel Prime), and Steve Buscemi.
The movie does look like a lot of fun, in my humble opinion. Oh, how do I know? I am judging from the first Transformers One Official Trailer which you can find embedded below.
