Autobot Hound, which we featured previously. was revealed on the 14th. A week later, another character from the iconic The Transformers: The Movie joins the growing 1986 movie collectible lineup. Folks, please welcome Scourge (not to be confused with Rise of the Beasts’ Scourge), leader of the Sweeps, whose former life was Thundercracker.

The Transformers Studio Series MTMTE Collection The Transformers: The Movie Voyager Class Scourge, as it is called, is also part of the new Transformers MTMTE Collection released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie (1986). As the mouthful of a product name suggests, Scourge is a Voyager Class figure. The 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) action figure converts from robot to spaceship mode in 19 steps and boasts movie-inspired details, better articulation over standard Transformers toy releases, and includes attachable blaster and blaster-effect accessories.
And if you think this toy looks familiar, well, there was in fact a Studio Series 1986 Scourge released about five years ago. You can say Hasbro is trying to milk this franchise dry, or you could say the toymaker is making right some past wrongs. The 2021 release was NOT da best, IMHO. It had some nasty panel gaps, the plastic quality wasn’t the best for the price, and Scourge looked a little stocky. But that could just be me.
The new release falls under MTMTE, which stands for More Than Meets the Eye. MTMTE figures are supposed to tout extra detail, be more screen-accurate, and offer better articulation over standard toy releases. In the case of this new Scourge, it is said to have improved articulation range, especially in the shoulders and ankles, and more detailed accessories.
Oh, it can pull off the spaceship mode with Scourge’s head as the bridge half of the transformation—as seen in the animated movie.
Anyhoo, if anyone’s interested, the new Transformers Studio Series MTMTE Collection The Transformers: The Movie Voyager Class Scourge will be released on April 1, 2026, for US$42.99. Pre-orders on HasbroPulse.com have sold out, but at last check, it is still available for pre-order on Target.com.
