It’s a shame that the NFL x Transformers collaboration does not have a character that transforms into a football. But we have to admit, a football helmet is more recognizable as American football than the ball itself, since the ball shares a similar shape with rugby and footy (though there are differences in size, and they are not exactly the same shape). Anyhoo, that void has now been filled by the US Soccer Federation.
That’s right, soccerheads. Soccer—specifically America’s soccer—has also found its way into the Transformers toyline. Folks, meet the Transformers US Soccer Federation Breakaway, a collab figure with the US Soccer Federation based on the lesser-known Autobot character Breakaway.
Breakaway has not seen a lot of toy action. However, he has appeared as a fighter jet as part of the 2009 Revenge of the Fallen movie toyline and in 2016’s Transformers Titans Return toyline as a Headmaster that transforms into a futuristic car. This time, Breakaway—not sure if he is the same Breakaway—goes full incognito as a, well, soccer ball.
As a robot, he stands 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall and is dressed in team colors that look suspiciously like he could be Optimus Prime in disguise. Breakaway transforms between robot and soccer ball in 33 steps. He comes with a stand for soccer ball mode, and as a bot, he has his own mini soccer ball accessory. No, he does not get a weapon. He’s an athlete, not a soldier.
The officially licensed United States Soccer Transformers Collab’s Transformers US Soccer Federation Breakaway is set to drop around April 1, 2026, for US$27.99. Meanwhile, eager fans can secure a copy by pre-ordering it from HasbroPulse.com.
