Yes, it is yet another Batman watch but trust me, this one is no less cool than the trio from Tendence we saw last week. The Undone Batman Dark Knight Retrospective Watch is actually Undone’s third Batman collection.
With this third model, it is Batman vs The Riddler-themed and inspired by the 60s Batmobile. The image of the modified 1955 Ford Lincoln Futura is not literal, obviously.
Instead, it has red aluminum rings around the crown and the glass fold that harks back to the red pinstripes on the Batmobile. I thought the pair of double notches at the glass fold has the spirit of the Futura’s bubble-top too.
Moreover, the see-through dial is a pretty cool nod to the Detect-A-Scope, one of the many gadgets found inside the Batmobile. I don’t believe Undone has explicitly said it but I believe this watch is a homage to one particular episode where Batman was pursuing The Riddler aided by the Detect-A-Scope. I could be wrong, though.
The see-through dial reveals the skeleton mechanical-automatic movement beneath and a radar lume. In low light, the radar lume reveals itself as The Riddler’s Lume. The sight of illuminated question marks is quite a sight to behold.
The Batman/Batmobile design cues did not end there. The timepiece’s most unique feature is the anti-reflective vault, a transparent glass dome inspired by the bulletproof windshield on the 1960s Batmobile that encased the entire watch like a snow globe.
Concluding the Batman touches is a retro Batman logo on the clear case back and a diamond-like carbon coating, an ultra resistance layer mimicking that of the Batmobile.
It is indeed a super unique timepiece that no serious fans of the cape crusader should miss.
