Perhaps a fitness or health band disguised as a Zen-like beaded bracelet is not for everyone. I think Vertu knows this. The company probably understands that its target market is less Woodstock and more Beverly Hills, hence the VERTU Lumina AI Bracelet.
Thanks to the miniaturization of technology, Vertu—and a bunch of other screenless health and fitness tracker makers—can get creative with this type of gadget. The Vertu Lumina AI Bracelet is kind of the Cor Chain Wellness Bracelet, but presented as jewelry fit for an evening gown or smart-casual getup. And yes, Vertu markets it toward women, but nobody is stopping men from picking one up for themselves.
It is not simply a Cor Chain wearing glamorous, luxurious clothes. Both are screenless, app-connected wellness trackers designed to pass as jewelry rather than cold, soulless gadgets, but the Lumina appears to do slightly, ermmm, less? If I am reading the specifications correctly, it lacks the Cor Chain’s body-temperature and energy-trend features.
What it does monitor are heart rate, blood oxygen, heart-rate variability, sleep, and stress-related patterns, with longer-term wellness references presented through a companion app. As for the “AI” part of the equation, that appears to involve AI-generated references based on the collected data. Like the wellness readings themselves, these are strictly for general lifestyle awareness and not medical use. Beyond that, Vertu does not explain exactly what makes the intelligence particularly intelligent.
The technology is wrapped in natural white mother-of-pearl, precision-set zircon, and mirror-polished 14K gold-plated stainless steel, complete with three-dimensional V signatures and shield-inspired details. Its flexible 200 mm chain can be adjusted to fit wrists measuring between 140 and 200 mm (5.5–7.9 inches).
The Vertu Lumina AI Bracelet is available now for US$599. That is significantly more than your typical fitness band with or without a screen; then again, your typical fitness band will also look terribly confused beside an evening gown.
