WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story Official Trailer

Let’s face it. Biopic films are mostly tragic. I mean, just look at Monroe, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Elvis. Tell me it isn’t true. So, it is actually kind of refreshing to see a biopic that ain’t tragic. And that biopic? The WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story. That’s right folks. Weird Al Yankovic, the artiste best known for his comedic parody songs and music videos, is going to have his story told in a motion picture.

But like many such film interpretations of famous people, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is loosely based on Al Yankovic’s life and career, highlighting some of the high and low points of his life. The screenplay was co-written by Yankovic and the director, Eric Appel who used to be a staff writer/director at the comedy website Funny or Die, and boasts directing credits including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, and The Office.

The WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story stars Daniel Radcliffe as the title role, along with Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson (Dwight!) as Dr. Demento, and Toby Huss as Nick Yankovic.

The WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is a Roku Original that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2022, and it is slated to start streaming on The Roku Channel on November 04, 2022. Meanwhile, here’s the movie’s official trailer:
