How many kitchen knife makers can claim their knives are fast? Probably none. And really, that claim wouldn’t make much sense anyway. Knives don’t have speed, but the Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife sure has the vibe of speed.

In a rare collaboration that brings Nissan, NISMO, and sushi knives into the same conversation, this blade was designed by Nissan Design America and Chef Hiroyuki Terada and handmade in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, by legendary knifemaker Kiryu. Measuring 210 mm (8.27 inches), this double-beveled kiritsuke-style blade delivers precise, clean cuts—no turbocharged engine required.
Much like the Nissan Z NISMO, this knife is all about performance. The black-dyed (kuro zome) stainless steel blade features crisp, aggressive lines inspired by the Z’s signature design. The buffalo horn handle even has a red spacer, mimicking the NISMO’s signature red accents. And if that’s not enough Z heritage, only 240 units exist, paying tribute to the original 240Z.
Each knife is individually numbered, engraved with the Z logo, Chef Hiro’s signature, and Kiryu’s insignia, and arrives in a black-lacquered box featuring six generations of Z logos. It has a price tag. It’s US$300.23—a subtle nod to Nissan’s racing legacy. It’s available exclusively on the NISMO Parts website, but you’ll have to be quick. Unlike the knife itself, these won’t stick around long. Oh, wait. My bad. It is sold out. But are you even surprised? I mean, scalpers do live among us.
Automobile and kitchen knives don’t quite go hand-in-hand, let alone sounds logical in the same sentence. But as rare as it is, it is not new. Porsche Design already in it and I got to say that its Universal Kitchen Knife does convey sportiness. Though the Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife does feel more artisan (and it is).
