if you have a thing for Lincoln’s new design language and midsize SUV is right up your alley, then we think the Lincoln MKX Concept SUV might excite you a little. unveiled at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition aka Auto China 2014, the MKX Concept SUV is the third of the four all-new Lincoln vehicles in pipeline due by 2016. no mention of what’s under the bonnet – for now, it is just appreciation of the design which is said to take cues from airplanes and motorbikes. how those two vastly different transportations culminates into the MKX is beyond us. here’s what Andrea Di Buduo, exterior design manager of the Lincoln MKX Concept, has to say about this sexy SUV:

Great emphasis was put on the proportions of this concept vehicle… it’s a very emotional, athletic design. Its horizontal lines and defined undercuts are gracefully integrated and very sophisticated, yet convey a powerful and dynamic presence.

the unveiling of the MKX Concept also marks the first time the American luxury car maker has introduced a concept outside of the U.S. and no prize for guessing why China was chosen as the starting point. based on a study of the Chinese luxury segment, it is clear to Lincoln that the group with the disposal income envision a medium premium utility vehicle as one with off-road capabilities and extrude a sense of sportiness. that said, you can expect MKX Concept will not be just an off-road wannabe. it is designed to tackle off-road with elements such as separated front skid plate, increased ground clearance and reinforced wheel arches.

other key design features expected include full LED headlamps with strips of dynamic LED signature lighting, a sloping roofline that akin to sport cars (though rear passengers’ headroom may suffer a little), huge 21-inch machined aluminum rolling stocks, a high belt line, a panoramic glass roof, integrated roof racks, floating rear spoiler with integrated brake light and concealed antenna, and full-width tail lamps – just to name a few. in short – this SUV is a serious looker. no hint on when it will be available, but as far as Lincoln’s name goes, it will be be breaking into the Chinese market later this year – kicking off with MKZ and MKC.
