we bet you didn’t imagine a compact SUV would be part of Porsche’s stable, but the 2015 Porsche Macan SUV is the living proof that wasn’t a dream. three models of the Macan will be offered: the first, dubbed the S1, has a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine breathing 340 hp (250 kW); the second, a S Diesel has a 3.0-liter V6 Turbo Diesel with 258 hp (190 kW) on the tap, while the third, the Turbo, gets a 3.6-liter V6 Biturbo engine, pumping out 400 hp (294 kW) that enables it to make the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds. and mind you, that’s a SUV we are talking about. though the former two are no slouch either; the S1 sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds and the S Diesel makes it in 6.3 seconds. again, we have to remind you it is a SUV, which means they are pretty quick by any record.
standard features across all three models include an all-aluminum body, all-wheel drive system with Porsche Traction Management (PTM), a seven-speed double clutch transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung aka PDK, naturally), multi-function sport steering wheel with shift paddles, electromechanical power steering, large diameter wheels (varies from model to model, up to 21-inch), high-performance audio system, an electrically operated tailgate, rear diffuser and twin tail pipes, roof spoiler, and last but not least, a Porsche-norm, luxuriously appointed interior. the 2015 Porsche Macan SUV has a price tag starting at €57,930 when it goes on sale in Germany, with the top-of-the-line Macan Turbo going at €79,826. the models are expected to roll off the showroom floors from April 5, 2013.
