Remember the T-Bob-like electric unicycle by Uno Bolt? Well, the U.S.-based electric scooter maker has a new ride that’s looking even more like the cowardly robot sidekick of Scott Trakker. Simply called Mini by Uno Bolt, this updated and smaller electric unicycle is not only smaller, but way more sleeker than its larger sibling. Just think of it as the electric scooter you see today, but with only one wheel. Cool, right? Clearly, I am smitten by it.
Beyond the obvious coolness, Mini boasts several other design improvements, including a new Gyro-Force V2 technology which Uno Bolt said is smarter, more responsive and affords for battery pack to be swapped on-the-fly, so you could go further with minimal hassle. Gyro-Force V2 is, of course, the magic that allows Mini to balance perfectly.
Its 500W brushless motor draws its electrons from a battery pack composed of LG lithium-ion cells, offering up to an impressive 23 miles (37 kilometers) on a single charge for the long-range battery (15 miles, or 24 km on standard battery) and recharges to full in under an hour. The motor is capable up to 22 mph (35 km/h) and it is capable hauling a person of up to 270 lbs (122 kilograms).
Other notables include CREE LED on all four sides (rear taillight doubles a secondary battery indicator), a steel and aluminum frame, military-grade grips, aluminum foot rest, LED screen for displaying speed, battery status, and distance traveled (odometer), gel foam seat on universal seat post for fitting bike seat of your choosing, a wet surface-friendly fat tubeless tire, tire lock system to prevent runaway Mini, key lock battery system, and finally, two modes of riding: cruise mode (seated) for leisure riding and bolt mode (standing) for fast-paced riding.
And oh, perhaps more importantly is, Mini by Uno Bolt is designed, assembled and tested in Florida. Sweet. These days you’d be hard pressed to find products that can proudly claim to be made in the U.S.A. Uni Bolt has taken Mini to Indiegogo where you can pre-order a unit for an early bird special at $699 (retail is expected to be $899), destined for December 2018 delivery. As before, it is on flexible goal which means, your pledge is a pre-order.
