About Bedrock Ocean Exploration

I promise you that Bedrock Ocean Exploration has nothing to do with The Flintstones, let alone the name of that fictional prehistoric town. Bedrock is a high-tech company on a mission to map the seafloor in detail you can only dream of. Officially, it is “a vertically integrated geophysical surveying and seafloor data company.”

About Bedrock Ocean Exploration

You think the sea maps you see today are accurate? Sadly, no. Less than 25% of the seafloor has been mapped in high resolution using direct methods like sonar. In reality, most global ocean maps are based on satellite altimetry—which is basically just estimates.

Bedrock Ocean Exploration is here to change that. It promises to map the seafloor with unprecedented detail—think 50 times more resolution than current public maps—using a mix of tools, including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and proprietary software. The subs, which are designed and deployed by Bedrock, are being used to conduct rapid, high-resolution marine surveys. Meanwhile, custom mission software streamlines both data collection and interpretation.

This being a business outfit, the goal is to, well, earn money—but it aims to do so while making ocean data more accessible and doing it in an environmentally responsible way. There’s nothing to buy here, but if you’re an ocean environmentalist, an ocean enthusiast, or just a curious human being, you may want to learn more about Bedrock Ocean Exploration HERE.
