Yup. This is it. The all-new eight generation Rolls-Royce Phantom luxury sedan, christened 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII. Nothing much here. It is just another specular car crafted with the rich in mind. The built will be without question, impeccable, or we dare say, the finest money can buy. Designed from the ground up and as expected, it promised to delivery both luxury and performance. It is worthy to note that Rolls-Royce, a BMW Group company, is a little snob when it comes to the company’s unequivocal dedication to, well, dedication.
In the super lengthy press release, which I almost fell asleep reading, it reiterates the points that make a Rolls stands apart from its competitions and among the points is what the company calls “Architecture of Luxury.” Here is the gist straight from the horse’s mouth:
“Quite contrary to how other so-called luxury manufacturers are trying to realise economies of scale by sharing platforms with mass market manufacturers, Rolls-Royce concluded that the future of true luxury lies in true small-volume manufacture of a dedicated ‘Architecture of Luxury’.”
So, you’d be getting what you will be paying. We shan’t detail what goes inside the Phantom VIII. It is pointless. You are going get all the luxury anyways, the question is only ‘what kind of luxury?’ Under the hood, a pair of turbochargers lend its new 6.75L V12 motor some boost, resulting in a supercar-level 563 horsepower and turning out a breathtaking 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Aided by a ZF 8-speed gearbox and Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT), the angry motor easily spirited away to 60 from standstill in scant 5.3 seconds. Quick. Very quick!
But being silly fast is just a side benefit because when inside, you’d be engulfed in luxury and comfort that you probably ignore the blurry surround. You’d probably want to drive this thing yourself. Leave your Jerry behind. Give him a day off. You want to be behind the wheel of this new name in luxury. It is advanced too. Of course, it is! Technologies including four-wheel steering and stereo camera scans the road ahead and adapting the high-tech suspension in accordance to the terrains, so you did have an assured and stable ride. This will be a gentle beast.
There are no words on the pricing, nor the availability, but that’s not going to be a problem if you are rich enough for a Rolls. Your agent will probably be reaching out to see if you are up for a switch up when it is ready for rich-ass car connoisseurs taking.
