Designed in collaboration with MINI Design Team, Autohome’s AirTop Roof Tent is designed to fit on the standard roof rails found on the new MINI Countryman and it can be mounted fairly easily without the need for tools, because it makes zero sense to bring tools to the wilderness.
Though, it is worthy to note that you will still need the model-specific roof rail carrier, available separately from MINI Shop, as the foundation for the AirTop roof tent attachment. This designed-for-Countryman special edition tent comes in a choice of black or white to match the roof and outside mirror caps of the new MINI Countryman. When deployed, the tent opens up to offer an elevated mobile accommodation (away from creepy crawlies, yay!) with an interior height of 3 feet (94 cm) and a space measuring 6.8 feet (2.1 m) by 4.3 feet (1.3 m).
The tent is of rainproof construction with optimum ventilation and high level heat and noise insulation and boast features including a high-density matters with cotton cover, two doors and two windows with zips, close-meshed mosquito nets at all openings, luggage nets and pockets for stowing personal items, and a battery-powered LED interior light. Each roof tent comes with a solid aluminum ladder for ingress and egress to your own roof top accommodation in the wild.
According to official words, Autohome AirTop Roof Tent for MINI Countryman is available now, but we couldn’t locate it on either their home website, or on the U.S. website, so we have no idea of how much will it cost. However, based on the existing products, you are probably looking at a price to the north of $2,000 at the minimum.
