you are probably as disappointed as us seeing the word “concept” still stuck with the Active Tourer, but at least for eager Beemer fans, some news is better than no news. no? first introduced last year, the BMW Concept Active Tourer will be heading to Outdoor Friedrichshafen, bearing an additional model name “Outdoor” (hence, the BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor). from then till now, this sleek new-age compact tourer has received a number of tweaks, including a new paint job, with the intend of showing you how its interior could be utilized for sport and leisure activities. powering the ride is the still the same hybrid setup comprising of a 1.5-liter petrol unit putting out 190 ponies and 147 lb-ft of torque to its front wheel and an electric motor that’s capable of 19 miles range on pure electric. despite being fitted with a small capacity unit, the new plug-in hybrid drive still makes the century sprint in less than 8 seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph.

of course, we have all read and seen what’s under the hood and so those information shouldn’t be come as a surprise, but the PR talk now is focused on what the BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor can do rather than its performance. the Outdoor features a hard-wearing interior with materials that could take the abuses any active lifestyle could throw at it and an integrated carrier system that could stow two bicycles (though your bicycle will need to have removable front wheel and saddle). it even have a “proper” seat at the trunk’s edge, ensuring you have a comfortable area to switch out your shoes, or just give your legs a break. awesome ride it seems to be. we only wish it could stop being a concept and start rolling of the line already.
