Lionsgate Movies Shared Borderlands (2024) Official Trailer

I certainly did not see this coming. I am talking about a Borderlands movie. The action role-playing first-person looter shooter video game with a comic book aesthetic first released in 2009 has now moved to the silver screen. Believe it. Lionsgate just dropped the official trailer yesterday, letting us first look at the upcoming film.

Now, I may not be a fan but I do have questions about the choice of actors. How is Cate Blanchett remotely in the age group of Lilith? And how is Kevin Hart who is less known for ass-kicking, gun-wielding roles Roland? And don’t get me started with Jamie Lee Curtis who portrays Dr. Tannis. If you have played the game, I am pretty sure you are at a loss for what to make out of the team.

I guess it is best to accept that the live-action movie is, well, a movie that has the Borderlands characters, machines, and locations. Anyhoo, here’s the official words:

“Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Hart), a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis (Curtis), the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a wiseass robot. Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to BORDERLANDS.”

At this point, you may have also noticed that the characters are from different game series. Oh, have we mentioned that Jack Black is the voice for Claptrap? Yep. Keep going to catch the official trailer.
