One factor in coffee making has kept the art of manual pour-over coffee alive and that’s the precise control of bean-to-water ratio. Needless to say, the old way is a long tedious process and it would take years of practice to get the consistency, but now, a new, connected coffee maker called Bruvelo promises do the same with consistency of a seasoned barista without you doing much more than just touching of a few virtual buttons on your smartphone. It is an all-in-one coffee making station. It filters the water, weighs and grinds the beans, introduce the right amount of water and ground coffee, pre-rinse the coffee filter, and maintains a brew temperature of 199 Fahrenheit (92 Celsius). The only things left to do are acquiring your favorite coffee beans and set your preference through a companion app on your smartphone.
You don’t even need to pull your hairs over the setting; the app makes it easy, letting you choose from preset Flavor Profiles. However if you want more control, it can do that too. The app lets you get down to details, offering you precise control over the temperature, ground-to-water ratio and the steep time (the period of time when water comes into contact with the ground coffee) with just a few clicks. Finally, you can save that custom brew profile (known as recipe) and call it up the next time you need a hit of your favorite cup of joe. Like the many connected equipment of today, Bruvelo’s full potential can only be realized when connected to the WiFi. In the event you don’t have your smartphone with you, you can also call up your favorite blend.
So how much for this dream crafted coffee maker? $350 is all you need to own one, to be delivered in June 2015, but that’s only if its Kickstarter campaign is able to roll in $150,000 or more in the next 25 days or so. Keep going for a pitch video.
