Whether you like Hello Kitty or not, you have to agree it is an adorable character. It is an adorable character that, if there was a collab with CASIO, it should be Baby-G getting the mouthless cat (which is actually not a cat according to its creator) treatment as opposed to a G-Shock. Well, you know what? A Hello Kitty-themed Baby-G is exactly what we will be getting.
Celebrating the 30 years of Baby-G and the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty in 2024, Casio presents the CASIO Baby-G x Hello Kitty BGD565KT-7 Wristwatch. Baby-G enthusiasts may have already noted that the classic first-generation Baby-G model, BGD565, was used for this commemorative timepiece.
This dual celebratory digital timepiece is treated to a white, red, and blue color scheme synonymous with Hello Kitty’s 1974 debut. The watch band is covered in printed faces of this charming character, featuring different Kitty expressions including laughing, winking, surprised, and sad.
In addition, it has a band loop with Helloy Kitty’s bow cut-out, a Hello Kitty face on the LED backlight – visible only when you activate the light, and a case back engraved with the original Hello Kitty design that replaces the motif with watch hands and numbers on her face.
Rounding up the caseback are the requisite details of the watch as well as marks that proclaim Baby-G’s 30th anniversary and Hello Kitty‘s 50 years. And then there’s of course the mandatory, collectible special packaging that makes this digital timepiece all the more collectible.
The CASIO Baby-G x Hello Kitty BGD565KT-7 Wristwatch is supposedly available to order now for US$140. But last check, the product page has a “NOTIFY ME” button instead of “ADD TO CART”. We are not sure if the books have not opened yet or if it has sold out already.
