Cloud Chair by Shota Urasaki

Cloud is one of the many nature’s phenomena and one that we can’t touch, let alone sit on it. No, wait. Actually, you know what? As it turns out, you can not only shove your head in a cloud, you can actually sit on a cloud, or at least Okinawa-based designer Shota Urasaki can.

He has designed a cloud-inspired chair, aptly called Cloud Chair. I must say, it looks pretty convincing as a cloud. According to the designer, a moving cloud on a rainy day he observed at the Okinawa coast serves an inspiration.

The fluffy cloud appearance was achieved by piercing polyester fiber into polyurethane form with a needle. A painstaking process, no doubt, but the result is pretty amazing.

The seat is mounted on a series of stainless steel legs that mimics pouring rain while the mirror makes the “rain” appear continuous. Genius. Lovely work of art and it perhaps should remain an art. For I cannot imagine the ordeal trying to clean dust off this fluffy furniture.

But I imagine folks who own the cloud Bluetooth speaker, levitating cloud light, or cloud lamp, i.e. super fan of clouds (hey, I am judging here), would be on cloud nine for having another piece of the cloud to add to his/her cloud-centric decor.
