Transparent gadgets scream geekiness. There are so many transparent gadgets, ranging from power banks to turntables to game controllers, and we know that a transparent USB hub is a matter of time. Well, a transparent USB hub is exactly what the Dockcase Explorer Edition Smart USB-C Hub 6-in-1 is. OK. Truth be told. It isn’t really transparent, transparent.
Like the brand’s Smart SSD enclosure, one side of the Dockcase Explorer Edition Smart USB-C Hub 6-in-1 has a see-through design that lets you see the innards. It looks like the brand’s Smart Hub given the see-through treatment. Obviously, it is not quite. For a start, it has a smaller IPS-LCD at 1.44 inches.
Other spec sheet details include PD 100 W power input, support display of up to 4K@60Hz, USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), Gigabit Ethernet, physical control button, detachable data cable, and upgradeable firmware. The hardware is crafted from aluminum alloy with tempered glass for the see-through side.
There are two flavors to choose from: Dockcase and Dockcase Pro. The Dockcase offers two USB-C ports, an HDMI interface, and three USB-A ports. The Dockcase Pro, on the other hand, has one less USB-A port, and in its place is a Gigabit Ethernet port.
In addition to working with a range of Apple devices, select Windows devices (Dell and Lenovo), and select Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones, the Dockcase Explorer Edition Smart USB-C Hub 6-in-1 also supports Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.
