Traditional mopping uses a lot of water and it is also not the most hygienic process because contaminated water is being reused to mop the floor. But thanks to the development of home appliances like the WYPE and Roborock U10, mopping with fresh water every time is possible. But these machines can be pretty clunky because they are also a vacuum or in the case of the WYPE, a sweeping device. Not the Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine Stick Vacuum Cleaner, though.
The Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine Stick Vacuum Cleaner is Dyson’s first vacuum cleaner that also mops. It is sized like a regular Dyson stickvac but with a special cleaning head that does the mopping called, well, Submarine. Unfortunately, it is not a true 2-in-1. You will still need to change the attachment for dry and wet cleaning.
The Submarine wet roller head is a self-contained, powered mopping attachment. It has an automatic water supply system that delivers 18 ml of water per minute distributed evenly across the width of the microfiber roller through 8 water jets.
The wet roller is, of course, motor-powered, spinning 900 times a minute to absorb spills and dried-on stains from hard floors. A stainless steel scraper aka extraction plate removes small debris and squeezes the dirty water on the roller and deposits them into the waste water tank.
It has a clean and dirty water tank. The former has 300 ml, good for around 110 square meters (1,184 square feet) of floor area and the latter is designed to be larger, at 360 ml. With separate water tanks, you’d always be mopping with clean water. Finally, the Submarine has a low-profile design that allows it to maneuver under the furniture.
For vacuuming duty, it includes a Fluffy Optic cleaner head. It features anti-static black carbon fiber filaments that pick up fine particles from hard floors and crevices. Fluffy Optic further touts an updated dust-illuminating technology that lets you see dust naked eyes can’t see. The updated dust-illuminating technology now illuminates twice as much area as the original tech introduced in 2021.
It also comes with a hair screw tool, featuring an anti-tangle conical brush bar, that removes dust and hair from mattresses, pet beds, upholstery, and stairs.
The new Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine Stick Vacuum Cleaner is powered by a Dyson Hyperdymium motor that makes a mind-bending 125,000 RPM. This motor will switch off when you switch to the Submarine wet roller head, btw.
The vacuum is outfitted with a piezo sensor that continuously measures the amount and size of dust and displays the info on the LCD screen, showing the cleaning result in real time. This sensor also works with the motor to automatically adjust the suction power to floor type and amount of dust.
Rounding up the key feature list is a 5-stage filtration and HEPA filter captures 99.99% of fine particles as small as 0.1 microns before discharging the air into the atmosphere.
The Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine Stick Vacuum Cleaner is available now in select markets, including Hong Kong (From HK$6,180), Japan (121,000 yen), Malaysia (From RM4,499), Singapore (From S$1.299), and Taiwan (From NT$24,900).
