Other than Tarn, aka devotee of Megatron, of the Decepticon Justice Division (DJD), Rodimus (formerly known as Hot Rod) is perhaps the other character of significance in the IDW Publishing’s Transformers comics series. Having said that, it is only right that Rodimus get immortalized as a high-end collectible figure as Tarn did.
Well, a collectible figure he is now. After much delay due to the pandemic, the Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri Rodimus Collectible Figure is almost finally ready for pre-order. But do not confuse this high-end collectible figure with the plastic model kit of IDW Hot Rod that was released last year. This is NOT a Furai Model; it is part of the Kuro Kara Kuri which is a high-end collectible figure line of Flame Toys.
Not a lot is known about this imposing figure. However, we do know that it will contain die-cast elements and the figure will be accompanied by an armor kit that allows you to turn Hot Rod into Rodimus as he did in the comics. Not going to lie. That is the part that had me sold. Light-up functions will come as standard too.
In addition, IDW Rodimus/Hot Rod will get a myriad of accessories, including a fishing rod. Wait. Hot Rod does fishing in the comics too? I am not sure as I did not manage to follow through with every issue. It is a nice, fun touch nevertheless.
Flame Toys is expected to start taking pre-orders on April 29, 2022, at 11 AM Hong Kong time. The asking price, we heard, is a cool 60,500 yen which is about US$471 based on the current going rate.
