Garmin Swim 2 and Other New Smartwatches

Besides Fossil, Garmin is perhaps the other company that is relentless in pushing out new smartwatches. Prior to the release of the Legacy Saga Series this month, the GPS equipment maker has in, September, revealed a bunch of GPS smartwatches.

The risk of cannibalizing its own market is high, but what do I know right? Anywho, Garmin seems to have a smartwatch for everyone, well, that’s everyone are willing to pay the price. If you know what I mean.

But before that, there is this newly revealed piece: Garmin Swim 2 (pictured above). Garmin Swim 2 is a GPS smartwatch with underwater wrist-based heart rate monitor.

It is good for both the pool or open water, and in addition to monitoring heart rate, it also tracks distance, pace, stroke count, distance per stroke, plus advanced features for timed sets and logging drills, as well as the new auto rest feature. There is sleep monitor built in too.

Garmin Swim 2 touts a rechargeable battery good for up to 7 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, up to 13 hours in GPS and optical heart rate mode and up to 72 hours in pool and optical heart rate mode.

It is available now in slate or whitestone for $249.99.
