In addition to the new Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices, Google also announced a follow-up to its first smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch, aptly named Google Pixel Watch 2 as well as a new generation of Google Pixel Buds Pro.
The new Google Pixel Watch 2 features an upgraded performance, all-day battery life, and advanced health features. It’s 10% lighter due to its recycled aluminum housing, with a new quad-core CPU for smoother operation and 24-hour battery life.
The watch boasts accurate heart rate tracking, Fitbit’s Body Response, and skin temperature monitoring. Fitness improvements include Heart Rate Zone Coaching and Pace Training.
It, too, has the safety features found on the new Pixel phone, including Safety Check and Medical ID, and it’s powered by Wear OS 4. And it can, of course, sync with the Fitbit app and pair with other Pixel devices.
Pre-orders for the Google Pixel Watch 2 are now happening with a starting price of US$349 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and US$399 for 4G LTE. Available in 30 countries on October 12.
And then there is the new Google Pixel Buds Pro which boasts a significant update, including AI-powered improvements. These earbuds now support Bluetooth Super Wideband for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, delivering clearer voice calls by doubling the voice bandwidth. Clear Calling reduces background noise, making conversations more distinct.
A unique Conversation Detection feature allows the earbuds to pause music and activate Transparency Mode when you start speaking, returning to music when you stop. Pixel Buds Pro also minimizes latency for gaming on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
For hearing wellness, you can track your listening habits and receive volume reduction suggestions. Additionally, the Pixel Buds app is now available on Chromebooks, enabling easy earbud settings management. The update is rolling out to both new and existing Pixel Buds Pro users, and the earbuds come in two new colors: Bay and Porcelain, for US$199.99.
